Overview

For my FutureGames graduation project, I'm crafting a Viking-themed adventure game that boasts refined gameplay and a comprehensive UI. Drawing inspiration from titles like "A Short Hike" and the Zelda series, I'm dedicated to enhancing my technical skills and UI implementation within Unreal Engine 5.

During the summer of 2023, my colleague and I undertook a small indie game project, made possible through the Sammes Stiftelse scholarship. Our aim was to create a 15-minute demo, hand crafted from scratch into a polished product. Throughout this endeavor, while I contributed to various aspects of the project, my primary area of expertise and responsibility lay in the domain of Level Design.

Embark on an epic journey as Gunnar, an aging Viking raider longing for entrance to Valhalla. Having witnessed numerous battles and triumphs, Gunnar fears he may not secure a place in the halls of the gods through traditional means. Determined to seek favour from the divine, he sets out on a quest through his village to gain the gods' blessings.

My objective and challenge was to make the tutorial integrate seamlessly with the gameplay, so that the players would naturally become acquainted with the game mechanics by the time they completed the level.
